Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, Obi Bespoke Studio is led by Mascha, and is dedicated to creating beautifully crafted, bespoke furniture and drapery. Working closely with interior and furniture designers, antique dealers, and private clients, the studio produces traditionally made pieces designed to be lived with and enjoyed for generations to come.

Every project is approached with care and consideration, from restoring treasured antiques to designing and making custom upholstery for contemporary spaces. Time-honoured techniques are combined with a thoughtful, collaborative process to ensure each piece achieves both comfort and character.

We provide a fully bespoke upholstery and soft furnishings service; working across antiques, custom furniture, and drapery.

Obi Bespoke works with clients across London, the Cotswolds and beyond, delivering upholstery and soft-furnishing solutions that are as practical as they are refined. Each piece is thoughtfully made bespoke or restored by hand using carefully sourced materials and techniques that respect both form and function. Whether reupholstering a Regency sofa or creating banquette seating for a modern kitchen, the aim is always the same: to produce beautifully made, hand-crafted furniture that feels personal, timeless, and entirely yours.

  • Reupholstery

    From dinning chairs to sofas, reupholstering your furniture can reinvigorate a space. This is more sustainable and ethical than buying new furniture, especially as the quality of mass-produced furniture that is on the market today is not built to last.

    Our workshop can make small frame repairs in-house, for more serious repairs we work with local, experienced furniture restorers to make sure your heirloom can live on for another hundred years. Each piece is researched to make sure the techniques used in the restoration are honoured and preserved.

    LEVELS OF UPHOLSTERY SERVICE

    RECOVER

    This is the least invasive level. We can update your beloved chair or sofa with new fabric. The fillings have to be in good condition, and we feel that nothing is going to fail within the next 10 years.

    REUPHOLSTERY

    A less used piece that has a solid foundation and only needs a little of extra love. We resuse the fillings and make sure everything is in good condition for a few more decades.

    RESTORATION

    This is the full works. Once the webbing has sagged, the hessian has completely rotted away, the springs are bent and broken, the only option is to rebuild from the frame up. We only use historically appropriate methods and materials to keep the value of the piece. Sympathetically restoring it back to life.

  • Product Development

    We can help design, develop and build furniture completely bespoke to your design. We’ll guide you through the process to create ornate headboards, giant ottomans, comfy banquette seating or dreamy sofas for your home. Get in touch and we can get going!

  • Sourcing

    If you are struggling to find furniture that fits into your space, we can help you find antiques that we can restore to complete your home. We also offer a fabric and trim sourcing service if you are unsure of which direction to go in finishing your piece.

  • Blinds and Curtains

    ROMAN BLINDS

    Roman blinds are a popular option in the home as they can be so versatile. We can make formal lined blinds that are great in a living room, or soft, and fabulously frilly ones for a boudoir. It’s such an easy way of adding colour and pattern into your home.

     

    CURTAINS
    Hand-sewn made-to-measure curtains add warmth and sophistical to your home. We offer wave, pinch- or pencil-pleated bespoke curtains in a fabric of your choice

  • Squab Cushions & French Mattresses

    Traditionally filled hair, or wool pads. Popular in Regency furniture, as cushions for canned seating, and luxurious window seats

  • Hand-Sewn Lampshades

    Bespoke pleated, gathered or tailored lampshades can transform a room. They are an easy way of adding a pop of colour or pattern that isn’t too imposing. We can create a lampshade of any size to suit your specifications.

  • How does it work / What's is the Process for a bespoke piece?

    Step 1 – Get in touch
    In your initial enquiry we can find out your aesthetic and establish exactly the work that needs to be done so that we can send through the initial proposal. From the deign to delivery of the finished product, the lead time is 8-10 weeks. This can take longer, as this is dependent on fabric availability and our calendar.

    Step 2 – Visualisation
    To ensure your piece works within the space, we need to do a site visit before creating proposed working drawings. This is the process that can take the longest, as we may need to do several adjustments to ensure satisfaction.

    Step 3 – Creating your piece
    Once the design and fabric is finalised, we will work with a local frame maker and upholster in-house. We keep you updated throughout the process, so that you are not left in the dark. Once it’s ready to deliver, we will contact you to arrange a delivery time, we can also provide an installation services for headboards to ensure the perfect fit.

  • How much does it cost to reupholster my chair/sofa?

    Bespoke upholstery is not cheap, and no two pieces of furniture have the same amount of repair required. We aim to be transparent in our quotes, and will always let you know the amount of work requires. We do not inflate the amount of work required and will always send photos to make sure you are happy for us to go ahead, so that there are no surprises in your final invoice.

  • How long does it take?

    From your initial enquiry to delivery, we aim for a 6-8 week turn around. With bespoke upholstery pieces can take up to 12 weeks, as we work with local frame makers and we have to work with their schedule. There can be a hold up with certain fabrics, and we will always keep you updated.

  • Do you do outdoor furniture?

    Yes! We are more than happy to revamp your outdoor living space with gorgeous new covers. Give us an email with all your details.

  • What area do you cover?

    The workshop is based in the Cotswolds, nestled in a small village near Stroud, we cover the local area including Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, Wootton Bassett, Tetbury, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Norton Chipping Camden, and the rest of the Cotswolds. We are also really proud to work with some of the best furniture and interior designers from across the country and beyond. We regularly have work arriving from clients in London, and can arrange hassle-free collection and delivery from across the country.

  • My sofa cushions are looking sad, can you add more feathers?

    Unfortunately, we cannot add fresh feathers to your existing cushion fillings. The new and old feathers do not always mix well and we cannot guarantee the high standard of work we are proud to offer. However, we are really happy to help you get new plump feather or feather-foam wrap cushions to revive your beloved sofa.
